Cayton Family

I had the pleasure of taking photos of the Cayton family back in October.  It was a beautiful fall day in Iowa City and the Cayton's were such a fun family to photograph.  It has been a loooong winter and I'm anxious to start shooting again.  My friend and fellow photographer Erin with The Locket are going to kick off the spring with a senior picture session with one of Erin's high school students.  We are planning something creative and totally unique, but that is all I will say for now so you'll have to check back in early April to see what we came up with!  If you're interested in booking a photo session you can contact me at info@mdavisonphotography.com.

I'm In A Store!!!!

I am excited to announce that my photo cards are now officially being sold in a store!  Aahhhh!!  When I started making photo cards over two years ago I never imagined I would be selling them, and I definitely never thought they would be sold in someone's store.  My cards are being sold at the fabulous Evilena's Red Dresser in Frankfort, IL.  If you're in the Frankfort area, be sure to stop in and check out my cards and all the beautiful consignment furniture at Evilena's Red Dresser.  Thank you Jan for all of your help and support, and for being the first store to sell photo cards by m.davison photography.  Hopefully this will be the first of many stores to carry my cards.

Have a wonderful week!

My First Publication!

Along with being a photographer I also work full-time at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA in the Alumni and College Advancement Office.  This past summer I was given the opportunity to take pictures for the Honor Roll of Donors that our office publishes every year.  The theme for this year's Honor Roll is Endurance.  The image that was chosen to represent the theme of Endurance was the Gingko tree on campus that has been a part of Cornell's campus since the college was built over 125 years ago.  I was so excited and honored that my co-workers had asked me to take pictures for the cover.  Below is how the cover turned out.  Benson and Hepker Design did a great job using my photo to create the cover design.

To my surprise the picture I took of the Gingko leaves was also used to create this year's President's Christmas Card.  Beth in our design office did a great job turning the leaves golden and adding a touch of snow.  Last weekend the Christmas card design won an Addy award!  I was so excited when Beth told me the good news.

Have a wonderful week!

Just for fun: Winter Wonderland

I'm going to be honest...I'm REALLY ready for winter to be over.  I'm ready for sunshine and warm weather.  I'm ready to run outside, and I'm ready to wear skirts and dresses.  Despite my feelings of dislike for winter I have to admit that I do have moments when I look around and think to myself, "Wow it is beautiful outside,"  I had one of those moments on Saturday morning.  I woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland; the trees were all frosted white from the fog and it was beautiful.  I took the opportunity to head out into the country and take some pictures.  Here are some my favorite shots from that morning.

Have a great week!

Jace Gregory

I had such a fantastic weekend!  I went back home for my nephew's baptism, and took his 3 month photos.  It is amazing how fast Jace is changing.  He has started smiling and "talking" to us.  During my mini photo session with Jace I quickly learned how difficult it was going to be to get a good shot.  He moves constantly and it was tough to get a picture that wasn't blurry.  I ended up being pretty happy with some of the shots I was able to get.  Luckily Jace is very photogenic!

Cooper Ray

I have been blessed to have two beautiful babies come into my life.  My nephew Jace was born on October 28.  I love being an Aunt, and every moment I get to spend with Jace brings such joy.  I am taking Jace's 3 month pictures next weekend, so be sure to check back next week to see his pictures.  My long time friend Lisa and her husband Tyler welcomed Cooper into the world on November 9.  I took a trip to Mason City to visit the Ketelsen family when Cooper was almost a month old for a mini photo shoot.
