Ryan & Alexas: Iowa City Wedding Photographer

Ryan and Alexas met while they were students at the University of Iowa.  Ryan was the nice boy who lived upstairs, and as they say, the rest is history.  A few weeks ago I was with Ryan and Alexas on our way to Capanna for coffee and gelato to go over their wedding day.  As I was sitting in the backseat listening to Ryan and Alexas talk to each other I remember thinking to myself, "These two are totally meant for each other, they are a perfect match."  It brought a smile to my face.  Ryan and Alexas are wonderful friends, and it was such an honor to be a part of their wedding day.  Here is a sneak peek of Ryan and Alexas's wedding day, more to come soon.

Ryan had Alexas's personal attendant give her cards throughout the morning, it was super cute!

Maternity Session: Jody and Mark

I've had a lot of maternity sessions in the last couple of weeks, and I'm loving it.  They are so much fun to shoot!  Jody and Mark are good friends of my oldest brother Christian and his wife Amber.  I met Jody and Mark at the arboretum in Newton, and it was the perfect backdrop for our session.

I was LOVED Jody's shoes, and was super impressed with her ability to walk in them while 8 months pregnant.  Whenever I try wearing heels I usually end up tripping all over myself - total klutz!

I love this picture, Jody and Mark are such a fun loving couple there was a lot of laughter during our session.

Mark is a big sports fan and LOVES reading his stats book.  The joke in the family is that Mark will be reading his stats books to his new son or daughter...

...but if Jody has anything to say about they'll be reading Dr. Seus instead. :)

Congratulations Jody and Mark, I can't wait to meet your son or daughter when he/she arrives in August.

Baby Kate : Iowa City Family and Child Photographer

The beautiful baby Kate is the daughter of my friend Jake and his wife Erin.  Jake and I have been friends since high school, and have shared many a good time together.  Memories of lat night chemistry study sessions and going to see Kenny Rogers at the nearby casino come to my mind. :)  I think one of my favorite parts of being a photographer is capturing all the special times in the lives of my friends.  Not only do I get to share in the moment with them, but I get to capture it so they can remember it forever.  Kate is cuter than cute, and I still can't get over how much hair she has.  YES, she was born with that much hair!

June Photo Sessions: Iowa City Photographer

The past month has been a whirlwind of family gatherings, a trip to DC and lots of photo sessions.  I've been doing my best to stay one top of everything and have neglected my blog.  I promise to make up for it!  I had the pleasure of doing lots of maternity and family sessions for some good friends.  In May I had a session in Iowa City with the gorgeous Mindy.  Mindy and I met back in October of 2009 when she was a student at Salon Professionals, and were friends instantly.  Here are some of my favorites from Mindy's maternity session.  Congratulations Mindy and Rich, I can't wait to meet Ella Ferne.

Last weekend I was back in Marshalltown for my nephew's baptism, it was such a special weekend.  While I was home I had a mini session with my long time friend Lisa and her ADORABLE family.  Lisa and I have been friends since elementary school.  She is one of my closest friends and I love her and her husband Tyler dearly.  Lisa and Tyler are expecting their second baby in July, and I was so so excited when she asked me to take pictures of her growing belly.
