Noah Alan Part 2

As promised here are more pictures of my cuter than cute nephew Noah Alan.  I love his chubby cheeks and little lips!  Going through these pictures makes me miss him so much, I just want to hold him.

Noah Alan

I had such a wonderful weekend with my family, I am so blessed.  Jace is getting so big and starting to talk, he really has his animal noises down.  He is quite the ham, and on Saturday night he had us laughing so hard we were crying.  I finally got to meet my new nephew Noah Alan who was born two weeks ago.  He is so precious.  We had a little mini photo shoot today.  Here is a little preview, check back soon for more!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend,

Homemade Bread

I attempted to make bread from scratch this weekend.  I've always wanted to try and make bread, and found a easy no knead recipe for breakfast granola bread.  I'm happy to report that my breakfast granola bread turned out great and is delicious!  Maybe I've found a new calling.  Next I want to try making brioche.

We Built This City

There is a new addition to the Davison family! Noah was born on Saturday, and is the cutest thing ever!

It is so much fun to watch my brothers become fathers and start their families.  Noah and Jace are 17 months apart (just like their fathers), and are going to have so much fun playing together, driving their parents crazy and I'm sure they'll find a way to get into trouble now and then.  It seems like just yesterday that my brothers and I were the ones playing together and being mischievious.  I would like to say that is was my brothers who always caused the trouble, and I was NEVER the instigator. :)  There are SO many stories I could tell.  Like about the time that Brandon burnt the bushes in front of the church down, or how inevitably ever Christmas I would break on of the pieces from the Nativity.  One of my favorite memories is sitting in the living room with my brothers and mom and dad and listening to records on our record player.  The Beatles was played quite frequently on that record player.  I also loved listening to Jefferson Starship's "We Built This City on Rock 'n Roll" while dancing around the living room.  I know this song has been listed as the all time worst song ever, but I love it!  You can check out this classic song and fantastically cheesy music video on YouTube.

Ice Cream Goodness

I may have a slight addiction to ice cream, and even more specifically soft serve ice cream.  I don't know what it is about soft serve ice cream, but I LOVE IT!  A popular summer time activity for my friends and I was to walk the 6 blocks to the Tastee Freeze for a Freezie, their version of a blizzard, I always got mine with peanut buttercups.  It was such a glorious day when the Tastee Freeze reopened for the season.  Now that I'm living in Iowa City, I anxiously await the reopening of my favorite ice cream shop Dane's Dairy.  If you haven't checked it out, you must!  They have the most delicious coffee flavored soft serve.  It is quite excellent with chocolate chip cookie dough.  In honor of the warmer weather and the ice cream eating season finally arriving, I stopped and took some pictures of one of the many Dairy Queens I find myself visiting in the summer time.

I can't decide which photo I like better...I'm leaning toward the black and white.

Happy ice cream eating to you all! I'm going to eat some right now. :)

Minnesota Love

A couple weekends ago I made the 4.5 hour trek from Iowa City to Minneapolis to see some good friends and to have my first of three mentor sessions with Alison from Alison Lea Photography.  It was a much needed weekend away, and it had been way too long since I had paid a visit to the city I called home for nearly three years.  My first session with Ali was just what I needed to get me pumped up and excited for wedding season, which begins for me at the beginning of May.  I love talking to other photographers; hearing their thoughts and opinions, how they work with clients, hearing their tips and tricks on getting the perfect picture.  I've never been to photography school, I'm completely self taught and I eagerly snatch up every chance I get to learn from other photographers.  After my session with Ali I spent the rest of my weekend with my good friend Kim.  We had one of our traditional family dinners, played cards and made a trip to what quite possibly could be my favorite place in all of the Twin Cities....Isles Bun and Coffee...the home of the puppy tail.  What is a puppy tail you ask.  A puppy tail is a cinnamony, gooey, frosting coated pastry that is pure deliciousness.  Don't believe me?  Just check out the pictures below and your mind will be changed.

Here they are in all their glory!

And you have to get extra frosting, because they don't have enough on them already! So much sugar!

Kim enjoying her puppy tail.

I'll be heading back to the Cities in May to shoot a wedding with Alison, and you better believe that puppy tails will be consumed again.  I wonder if they freeze well.... :)
